How to Increase FPS on Roblox (2025): Ultimate Lag Fix Guide

Is Roblox lagging on your PC? Follow our 2025 FPS boost guide to remove lag, unlock your frame rate, and optimize settings for low-end computers.

Roblox should run on a toaster, but poorly optimized games and bad default settings can make it stutter even on good PCs. If you’re tired of 20 FPS, follow this guide to smooth out your gameplay significantly.

1. Use an FPS Unlocker

By default, Roblox caps your frame rate at 60 FPS. If you have a 144Hz monitor, you aren’t using its full potential.

  • Solution: Download Roblox FPS Unlocker (rbxfpsunlocker) from GitHub. It is safe, open-source, and explicitly allowed by Roblox staff (it won’t get you banned).
  • Result: It removes the 60 FPS cap, allowing smoother movement and lower input lag.

2. In-Game Settings (The Basics)

  • Graphics Quality: Set this to Manual and lower it.
    • Tip: Do not set it to the lowest (1 bar) unless you have to. 1 bar reduces render distance drastically, which puts you at a disadvantage in shooters. 2-3 bars is the sweet spot for visibility vs. performance.
  • Reduce Motion Blur: Most games let you disable this in their custom settings menu (not the Esc menu). Turning it off helps visibility and performance.

3. Disable Fullscreen Optimizations (Windows)

Windows 10/11 tries to “optimize” games but often causes micro-stutters.

  1. Find your Roblox Player executable (Right-click desktop shortcut -> Open File Location).
  2. Right-click RobloxPlayerBeta.exe -> Properties.
  3. Go to the Compatibility tab.
  4. Check “Disable fullscreen optimizations”.
  5. Click Apply.

4. Texture & Material Reduction (Advanced)

Some players delete texture files to force “smooth plastic” graphics everywhere.

  • Method: Go to your Roblox versions folder -> PlatformContent -> pc -> textures.
  • Action: Delete (or move) the folders like sky, water, etc.
  • Result: The game will look like “LEGOs” with no detailed textures, but your FPS will skyrocket. Note: Use at your own risk; update resets may revert this.

5. Background Apps

Chrome loves RAM. Discord loves CPU.

  • Close Browser Tabs: running a YouTube video in the background kills Roblox performance on low-end CPUs.
  • Discord Hardware Acceleration: Go to Discord Settings -> Advanced -> Turn OFF Hardware Acceleration. This saves GPU resources for Roblox.

6. ClientOptimizer (Bloxstrap)

Consider using Bloxstrap, an open-source bootstrapper for Roblox. It includes:

  • Built-in FPS Unlocker.
  • FastFlags editor (allows you to enable experimental rendering features).
  • Mods management.
  • Lighting Technology: You can force “Voxel” lighting instead of “Future” or “ShadowMap” to gain massive FPS in heavy games.

Summary

To fix lag:

  1. Get FPS Unlocker.
  2. Lower Graphics Quality (but keep render distance reasonable).
  3. Disable Fullscreen Optimizations.
  4. Close Chrome.
  5. Consider Bloxstrap for advanced tweaks.

Now go hit those headshots lag-free!
